Good question. We settled on alpacas after first investigating several other
livestock options. (sheep, goats, llamas) The more research we did, the more we
kept coming back to the alpacas. Awfully cute. Awfully good investment.
All
things considered, they’re pretty low maintenance. (We were unwilling to raise
anything that had to be milked!) The other huge plus for us is that alpacas are
earth friendly: they don’t require large acreage, they nibble grass down from
the top, they don’t rip it out by the roots, they have padded feet which do not
compact the earth the way hooved animals do and you do not have to slaughter
them to get your return on investment. |
